Nevada Free Taxes Coalition Services
Nevada Free Taxes Coalition offers a range of free tax preparation options designed to meet you where you are — whether you want to sit down with a trained volunteer, file on your own with guided support, or drop off your documents and let us handle the rest. All of our services are completely free, and every volunteer is IRS-certified to make sure your return is accurate and you're getting every credit you're entitled to.
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
Our core service: free, in-person tax preparation with an IRS-certified volunteer at one of our locations across Southern Nevada. VITA volunteers can prepare both current-year and prior-year federal and state returns, and our program maintains a 90%+ accuracy rate. This is a great option if you'd like hands-on help from a real person, start to finish.
IRS Direct File
A free federal filing option for eligible taxpayers who lived in Nevada all of the prior year. If your income qualifies (adjusted gross income of $69,000 or less), you can use traditional IRS Free File; anyone, regardless of income, can use Free File Fillable Forms. Not sure if you qualify? Use the IRS's eligibility checker before you start.
MyFreeTaxes
An online self-filing platform for anyone who wants to prepare their own federal and state return with step-by-step guidance — no income limit required. Support is available by email or live chat if you get stuck. Note: this option isn't available if you have self-employment income.
Drop-Off Service
Don't have time to sit through a full appointment? Drop off your tax documents at select locations and one of our volunteers will prepare your return for pickup — no waiting required.
What to Bring
- To make your appointment go smoothly, please bring a valid photo ID, Social Security cards (or ITIN letters) for yourself and any dependents, and all relevant tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, prior-year returns, etc.).
