Prepare your own Federal and State tax return. The IRS e-file is fast, more accurate, secure, and simple:
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) was established by the United States Government to provide free tax preparation assistance by IRS-certified volunteers. This program was designed to help low-to moderate-income individuals, persons with disabilities, elderly, and limited English speakers file their taxes each year.
The Nevada Free Taxes Coalition (NFTC) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 that provides free income tax preparation to low to moderate income taxpayers under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
Our mission is to make sure that individuals and families seek and receive their tax credit which they are entitled to base on their family structure. The NFTC efforts to support the VITA Program allowed the NFTC group of non-profits to fulfill their mission of contributing to the long term financial stability and strengthening of neighborhoods and communities. And now, we are opening the first year round VITA Site.
The free service is an invaluable resource to income-eligible individuals and families, provided to them free of charge. During the 2017 tax season VITA volunteers prepared 21,292 tax returns and provided $22,375,279 in refunds in Nevada. We recruited, trained, and deployed volunteers to over 20 non-profit agencies. These volunteers donate thousands of hours during the tax season and helped to return over $3M in tax credits to Nevada Taxpayers. We are now in the process of recruiting volunteers for the upcoming tax preparation season.
Become an IRS certified tax preparer! Join a dynamic team of committed volunteers who will help thousands of people at our new VITA Site to save money in 2019 by not overpaying their taxes.
We are looking for individuals who would like to become coordinators, greeters, or train to become an IRS certified tax preparer. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Southern Nevada needs your help. Hundreds of local volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS donating thousands of hours preparing and filing federal income tax returns free of charge for families whose annual household income is less than $59,000.
Volunteers participating in our program will receive training, which is offered both online and in the classroom. They must also must sign Form 13615 (Volunteers Agreement), which outlines the Volunteer Standards of Conduct. These agreements help us provide a high-quality service and uphold the highest ethical standards. Our VITA sites open during weekdays and weekends. Hence, our hours are flexible to accommodate the availability of our volunteers.
