Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Due to the shutdown, we are adjusting our tax preparation delivery to continue to assist taxpayers and still keep our volunteers safe. We want to assure you that getting your taxes completed and e-filed is still of utmost importance to us. 

Many of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites are located within colleges, schools, community centers, and other locations that many people visit daily.  As of March 13. 2020 all VITA site locations EXCEPT THE OFFICE LOCATED AT 598 S DECATUR LV NV 89107 have closed until further notice. We have resumed in-office tax preparation services at the following location only:

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST A DROP-OFF SERVICE TO BE ABLE TO DROP-OFF YOUR DOCUMENTS. YOU CAN DROP-OFF YOUR DOCUMENTS AT THE AFOREMENTIONED LOCATION AT ANY TIME WITHIN THE GIVEN HOURS.

DROP-OFF DOCUMENTS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
  • Valid driver’s license or photo identification (self & spouse’s, if applicable)

  • Social Security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification notices/cards for you, your spouse, and your dependents

  • Birth dates for you, spouse and/or dependents on the return

  • All forms W-2, 1099 and information for other income received

  • A copy of last year’s tax return and information for all deductions/credits

  • Daycare payment records and daycare providers Tax ID number

  • Checking and Savings Account and Routing number(s)

  • Health insurance coverage information for all members of the household (if applicable)

You may download and print the Intake/Interview Form (available below in PDF format). A volunteer available at the drop-off site will interview you (the taxpayer) to collect the necessary information. Once we do, we will contact you via telephone to request any additional information relevant to the tax return preparation. You will need to come back to the office to sign the return before we can send it electronically to the IRS.

Virtual VITA Service 

To ensure that no eligible taxpayer misses a VITA opportunity, NFTC, in partnership with Code For America, is launching Virtual VITA. A platform designed to prioritize the client's time without compromising the human aspect that taxpayers have come to expect from VITA.

Your information will need to be collected online at GetYourRefund.orgSo, please, have all the relevant documents along with identity verification documents for every person included in your tax return in digital format. Once your Intake form and documents are received we will give contact you in order for our tax preparer to be able to:

1. Verify your Identity

2. Ask any relevant questions that will allow us to complete your tax return

 

Please, ensure that you provide a working number for us to contact you. We will not be able to complete your tax return until we have direct communication with you. Once we have received all the required information we will complete the return and securely forward the completed return to you for review and authorization to file.

Before Scheduling Your Virtual VITA Service, make sure to:

1. Have a good contact number for us to be able to reach you 

2. Have identity documents (ID and social security cards) available in digital format for every person included in the Tax Return 

3. Have all relevant documents available in digital format
